Afzali House is a late Qajar era (1785-1925) home in the old texture of Ardakan which originally belonged to a merchant. Like other traditional homes of the desert region of Iran, this house has been built to accommodate residents throughout the four seasons of the year and has a central courtyard, wind tower, hall, pool (howz), Sedari (three-door or –window bedroom) and Panjdari (five-door or –window living room) with lattice doors. The summer wing of the house has a large balcony that leads to the wind tower and pool house (Howz Khaneh) and the two- story winter wing of the house has a Pahlavi era (1925-1979) balcony with brick pillars. Afzali House is currently the location of the Carpet Museum of Ardakan and was registered as a National Heritage Site in 2004.
