The Gregory and Stepanos Church is located in the old Armenian quarter of Hamadan east of the ruins of Ecbatana, the capital of the Median Empire (678-549 BC). The church was built by Armenians from Isfahan and immigrant Russian-Armenian merchants in 1676. The church has a brick interior and a mudbrick exterior. The church was renovated in 1932.
