Chabahar Local Museum opened in 2008 in the old Chabahar Governor’s Office which dates back to the Qajar era (1785-1925).  This two-story structure has three entrances and a network of corridors and rooms. The first floor has prehistory, historical and modern era displays. In the Prehistory Hall artifacts found in Chabahar and Sistan-Baluchestan Province from fossils and patterned potshards to earthenware, goblets and brick cups are put on display.  Painted pottery and Sassanid (226-651 CE) coins are displayed in the Historical Era Hall and the Modern Era Hall showcases statues, jewelry and the old façade of the Chabahar Governor’s Office. The second story of the museum has a library and is dedicated to anthropology. Wax statues of Baluch men and women, their professions, customs and costumes, and handicrafts are displayed in this section of the museum.
