Shazdeh Garden or the Prince Garden is located about 6 kilometers from the city of Mahan on the Kerman-Bam road and at the foot of Mount Jupar. This rectangular garden spans a 5.5-hectare area and is within walking distance of the Shah Nimatullah Vali Mausoleum. The garden has a beautiful façade, a two-story residential structure, a servants quarters and a bathhouse. There is a large pool (howz) with five fountains directly in front of the residence that is fed by the Tigran Qanat (underground water management system). The second story of the residential building has large rooms designed as living quarters and for entertaining guests. A tall wall protects the garden against harsh weather conditions. The garden has evergreen and windbreak trees (like pine and cypress), shade trees (like wild elm, ash, sycamore and poplar) and fruit trees (like plum, cherry plum, peach, walnut and grape vines). The garden also has a variety of delightful flowers. Shazdeh Garden was registered as a National Heritage Site in 1974 and is also an example of the UNESCO registered Persian Garden.
