Khar Turan National Park, which is also known as Turan National Park, is a biosphere reserve located 120 kilometers southeast of Shahroud. This park is a birdwatching destination that is home to Persian ground jay, bustard, cream-colored courser, desert lark, desert finch and see-see partridge. Khar Turan National Park is also home to different animal species including the endangered Asiatic cheetah, wolf, jackal, fox, hyena, Persian lynx and wildcat.
