One of the most famous Islamic schools in Qom, Feyziyeh School replaced another religious school in the early 1700s. This two-story structure had 40 chambers for students in the Qajar era (1785–1925) and later 40 more chambers were added to it. The oldest part of the building dates back to 1532 and has beautiful Safavid Mo’arraq tilework. The school is considered the façade of the Old (Atiq) Courtyard of the Fatemeh Masoumeh (AS) Shrine.

The significance of the school in modern Iranian history is that it was where Imam Khomeini (1902-1989) delivered his famous anti- Pahlavi Ashura speech on June 3rd 1963 for which he was arrested, imprisoned and later exiled.
